Two Funny Photographs at the Last Racing Day 2013 at JÄGERSRO Horse Racing Track • Wednesday 4th of December 2013

This Wednesday was the last day of gallop at the Jägersro Horse Racing Track this season before frost and snow hits the track. Closing down the camera and other equipment I discovered 2 photographs that were a bit funny. On one of them the jockey is looking straight into the camera and saluting while passing the finish line.
On the other one a big bird flew in front of the lens. Two good images concluding this years work at Jägersro Trav & Galopp.

Exhibition • Malmö Gallerinatt 2013, EXTER INDUSTRIALIS at Galleri Spegeln • Saturday 28th September 2013

On the last saturday of September every year one of the biggest art events in Malmö takes place, which is the annual Malmö Gallerinatt / Malmö Gallery Night. This is the day when most galleries and art institutions are having their opening for new exhibitions at the same time and when the galleries are open to midnight.

I exhibited the new photograps EXTER INDUSTRIALIS at Gallery Spegeln in Malmö. The space was fully packed with visitors and gallery tour. Was great to meet the visitors and listen to their positive views of the work.

Here is the official press release for the exhibiton:

Exter Industialis is a series of images which are based on photographs taken between 2010 and 2013 of walls from different industrial buildings. The exteriors are shot directly from the front and shows the buildings with a stripped-documentary aesthetics while having a nostalgic reverb. My first job as a teenager was a summer job at a wood factory in the middle of the Småland pine forests. Since then I have throughout my art combined jobs at various industries which environment and architecture has been a recurring theme in his images.

Directing Four Rolling Trucks for Photoshoot for TRANSPORT COMPANY • Friday 11th October 2013

The shoot for the truck and cargo company was going to take place on Thrusday but due to rain and dark skies it was postponed to the day after. Friday was a bit better but still cloudy and mild rain. I started out with some office staff photos and later in the middle of the shoot I found myself standing on a rainy bridge over the motorway, directing a line of 4 heavy trucks passing on the road under me. After a bit of editing with a lot of Brightness added the client were all satisfied.

Photoshoot for SKURUPS KOMMUN • Friday 4th October 2013

Last Friday I did a Photoshoot for Skurups Kommun which is 20 minutes train journey south east from Malmö. The city has won a prize for the best elderly care facilities in Sweden.

I was comissioned to take photographs showing the ongoing project and was a bit concerned about how the atmosphere and mood was going to be at the center. Have to say that I was most impress by both the staff and elders who were all cheerful and had created an amazing environment with interior design, activities, cat, hen yard, orangery.
The indoor shoots had a lot of mixed lights. Large windows with 6000 K light from the outside, blended with warm 3200 K indoor strip light in the ceiling. Tricky, but in conclusion the shoot turned out excellent with many good photographs.

Photo shoot for ROOFERS & THINSMITHS • Photography and balancing on the Rooftops of Malmö • Friday 13th of September 2013

The other week I did a a photo shoot which was not a job for those who fear heights. The shoot was commisioned by a advertisment agency for a company of 2nd generation roofer & tinsmiths in Malmö. It was shot on 4 locations where 3 of them was up on high rooftops overlooking Malmö or Lund. In other words it was time to concentrate. Not only on shutter and aperture but most important was to watch where I was walking. One step in the wrong direction and I would have fallen right of the roof.
The session finished at the company workshop where preparations of metal sheets for new roofs are made.

Photography for SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE, FLORIST & FORESTRY • Tuesday 20th of August 2013

On the end of August I photographed at a School of Agriculture, Florist & Forestry in the countryside near Åkarp outside Malmö. It is a residential education college for adult education. The courses given here are mainly; arborist, florist and forestry.
I was commissioned to take photographs the school and they needed the images urgently as the student had already started to attend the college. I drove there early in the morning with my Vespa and full packed bag with equipment. Had a briefing and a coffee and started to shoot straight away. Arborist climbing in trees, florists in greenhouses, chainsawing by foresters.
Mostly outdoor photos and some portrait photographs of the teachers in the school environment. A lot of action and a lot of colors.

SYDVÄST Boatcovers & Sunsails in Svarte • Website, Logo, Business card & Photo • Thursday 25th of July 2013

Thursday last week I started the commission for Sydväst Kapell & Solsegel in Svarte, which is by the sea at beautiful Östelen, in the south east of Skåne. Pär and Charlotte, two sailing enthusiasts, contacted me 2011 regarding an idea to start a company that would make boat covers, sails and sun sails. They initially wanted me to do the logo. Now 2 years later they have finally started the business and want me to do their website, photos and business card as well as the logo.
Last Thursday I packed my photo equipment, computer and sketching material (different, pens, markers etc) and took the train to Svarte. We worked from 10:30 am to 5 pm. Before lunch we bought the domain and choose a web host. For lunch we drove to the restaurant Blentarps Gästgiveri, where they had installed their first sun sail over the outdoor terrace. Here we ate and after I took some photos. In the afternoon we decided on a typeface and colours for the logo. Just before leaving for Malmö I managed to take some quick photos of the workshop where they manufacture their sails. It's an amazing place with raw brick walls, old sewing machines and other great tools that gives a feeling of the trade tradition and craftsmanship.

Portrait Photography of Children • 14th of June 2013

In early May Erika contacted me as she wanted to take portraits of her three sons.
We had a good talk about this and I made it clear that I am not shooting ordinary child photographs. I however take portrait photographs of children. I think the difference is immense. Child photographers tend to take quite kitsch images of children on a fur, or in a crib with a rattle and baby clothes with pastel colors, turning them into stereotypesMy style is to take portratis of children in the same way as adults. Images that shows their character and personality. This was exactly what the client wanted.

So the studio was prepared the evening  before and the same evening I went through the routines and planned the concept and what kind of images that were going to be taken. I also notified Erika to bring some of their toys etc. After 2 hours of shooting and many more editing the pictures turned out great!

A Day at the Horse Racing Track • Saturday 1st of June 2013

After a hectic week, editing old comissions, meetings with new clients and a great After Work and night out with friends on Friday. I worked at Jägersro Horse Racing Track in Malmö again and shoot the final images for the evening gallop. Here is one of the race photos I took. As it was raining the track looks totally white in the image due to the water which also creates a reflection of the horses and jockeys below them. The double image in the very top of the picture is a reflection made by a mirror installed just outside the track.

HERMODS Catalogue for Educational Company • 14th January & 15th of April 2013

Spring 2012 I was contacted by a larger educational company in Sweden who wondered if I could mail them a price estimation of a photo commission. Finally the job was taken by another photographer after the summer. However they were unsatisfied with the job the photographer done.
Before Christmas Hermods contacted me again regarding another commission for their upcoming catalogue. In the middle of January it was all set and I packed my studio and went to one of their schools in Helsingborg up north of Malmö. Rigged lights and other material in one classroom for 2 portrait shoots of former students who had become their success stories. Also I had some time to make environment photos in the classrooms during ongoing lectures. I went back to Helsingborg and the school in mid April to take follow up photos. Here you can see the finished digitial material of the catalogue.

NATURA MORTE REDUX at FOTOGRAFI I FOKUS Photographic Biennale 2013 • 8th to 26th of March 2013

After transporting back the exhibition from Helsinki, Finland it was time to show the Natura Morte photographs back in Malmö for the Fotografi i Fokus 2013, which is the biggest photographic biennale in Scandinavia.
I was supposed to show my work in a place in at the square Davidhallstorget that was planned since October 2012. But only 3 weeks before the biennale the owner had to shut down the whole place and just by chance I found a place in central Malmö where I could move my exhibition. A fast decision that in the end worked out well. So just after I had done a whole days lecture about photography at Malmö University we held a great opening, on friday evening on the 8th of March, with a lot of good friends!

Product studioshoot for CALDIC company • 24th of March 1st of April 2013

In the beginning of 2013 I was contacted by the Dutch international company. CALDIC have a branch in Sweden and among many products makes food for restaurants.
They wanted me to photograph their products and after some discussions I received boxes with packages in my studio. I thought it would be an easy treat, however product photography of shiny objects was a bit trickier than I expected and after many days of adjusting light and shadows in the studio, finally just after Easter I was finished and satisfied with images of all products. And so were they!!

ÅKERSBERG • Food & Kitchen Shoot • Thursday 10th and Saturday 12th January 2013

On thursday and saturday I spent 2 half days photographing food and the kitchen at the well know restaurant and hotel Åkersberg in Höör, Sweden. Åkersberg is an old mansion from early 16th century with quite a history and is now an restaurant and hotel owned and run by the Swedish Church.
6 months ago the well known swedish chef P-G Hansson was contracted to renew and revive the restaurant and take the kitchen from salad buffet to a more refined gourmet restaurant. I had the pleasure to shoot P-G and the staff the two last days of his contract period.
I have never been in a restaurant kitchen before and was most impressed of the quality of worksmanship and high speed of all staff working here as a team. During these two days I made sure that my camera was set on a fast shutter and to be in the right place at the right time ...and also be sure to eat their lunch which was excellent indeed!

LUR • Photoshoot with Experimental Band • Thursday 10th January 2013

On thursday evening (just arriving in Malmö from the shoot at Åkersberg) I prepared my studio for a photo shoot with two guys from Växjö in Sweden. They later moved to Malmö and started a band a couple a years ago and are now playing in venues in Sweden and around the world aswell.
Their name is Lur and they play experimental music with influences from rock, trance/rave, folk. They have also work on an concept with hand knitted stage clothes and are playing on all sorts of instruments as; drums, synths, childrens toys etc. They arrived with cab just as I had set the studio and went into costume straight away and after 2 hours of hammering the studio flashes we got some pretty good pictures.

Well if you didn´t know, Lur is actually from outer space.

In between sessions I had the possibility to disarm them of their musical armory and took some shots of their weapons of mass-distortion.
